Meet Sophie

Sophie is a London-based writer and comedian across stage and screen. Her work is zany, dark, and dry. She is interested in messy women, the holy pursuit of lesbianity, and the absurd gap between who people think they are and how they actually behave.

โ€‹

After selling out Riverside Studios with her award-winning debut play, Sophie has developed work with the WFTV Kay Mellor Screenwriters Lab, Fifth Word Theatre Company, and the Pleasance Theatre. Her screenwriting has placed in the top 10% of the BBC Writersroom Open Call.ย Sophie is also active on the stand up circuit. Highlights include Backyard, Up the Creek, and Soho Theatre.

In small-town Missouri, four miscreant teenagers are doing community service at Betty's church when the tornado warning comes. Is it really a tornado - or is it the end of the world? A sharp new comedy about coming of age in a time of conspiracy and Christianity.

Being developed with the Pleasance as part of their inaugural Bridges festival for December 2026, following rehearsed reading in April.ย
